Summer, 2009:

IMG_0249

Returning home from Frankie 95  (New York, NY) was amazing and thrilling. The late nights of dancing, masters classes at the Alvin Ailey school of dance and training with Evita Arce left us with a thrilling sense of encouragement.  In this picture, we are posing as the dancers on the plaque where the original Savoy ballroom stood in Harlem, NY.  It was amazing to see the history of the dance we love so much.

Jeff and I had so much fun at Beantown Camp and Andrew Sutton’s Teacher’s Training course in Beverly, Massachusetts!  It was an affirming and educational trip.

The last event of the summer: “Fly Like Frankie” Aerials workshop in Greenville, South Carolina with the Furman Swingers.  We covered the basics of the throw-out, around-the-back, A-Frame, Pancake and Knickerbocker.  We were amazed by the safety and respect all the dancers showed.  Thanks, FU!

Where you may spot her: ha!  At home with the kids or at school teaching.  Rarely, when they get a sitter, they head out for dancing at Monday nights at Rhythm Junction in Minneapolis or a weekend at Aster Cafe.
