A 2005 BMU graduate from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, Liz graduated magna cum laude with a presidential dean’s list. During her collegiate years, she was vice president for Delta Omicron and president of MENC, the national chapter of music educators. Upon graduation, Liz completed her Kodaly level 1 training at St. Thomas University and plans on attending St. Thomas for graduate school in music education.

As an instrumental minor with flute as an emphasis, she studied under Rebecca VanDeWalker and took masters classes whenever she could. As a flute instructor, Liz’s primary focus is beginning and intermediate students, emphasizing the joy of the instrument alongside technique and training through duets and performance opportunities.
Liz is currently teaching K-8 music in a North Minneapolis charter school primarily for Hmong students. See http://www.nobleacademy.us/ for more information about this wonderful school.
